i will always remember...

i always have felt like remember is a very significant word--used in important places, and in important settings. we have history books so that we can remember. we have our own journals so that we can remember. remembering the past and remembering important promises is a vital part of this life. without remembering, we will not succeed, we will not move forward, and we will not become who we are supposed to become.

i will always remember this day: 9/11. i was coming out of a seminary class when my dad who was sitting in the lobby told me that some planes had hit the twin towers in new york. it felt totally unreal, and we rushed home to watch the footage that had been recorded from the plane crashes. i just remember seeing a huge black cloud come over every single camera angle possible, and seeing so many bodies strewn about the area. what a horrible thing to strike us, yet what a blessing it was to have all of the thousands of people willing to serve. here's the video that deserves the "tissue award," according to my mom:
